About “#That girl and that bag”
"#That girl and that bag" is a snap project. However, it is a little different from a typical snap project. Rather than simply asking a model to hold a KENTO HASHIGUCHI bag and taking a photo, we asked people who were ``something more than a model'' to take photos of us. In an easy-to-understand way, this includes not only those who are active in activities other than modeling, but also those who are primarily active as models but have some other element. I approached these people and while it was a snapshot project, I created an atmosphere that felt like a one-column article in a magazine or a close-up TV documentary.
The photos are different from the snapshots you see in general magazines, but we asked photographer Mizuki Sato to take the photos in a style that is similar to the way they were taken. I think that also played an important role in adding documentary elements.
When I posted a photo of this "#that girl and that bag" on SNS, I only introduced the name and title of the person who took the photo. However, when producing this booklet, we decided to include interviews in the form of a questionnaire. By doing so, I feel that I was able to go beyond the framework of a typical photo book. This booklet is somewhere between a photo book and a magazine. “#That Girl and That Bag” was the final form of this project after creating this booklet. I feel like that.
When I was in junior high school, I read a book called ``Hello Work for 13-Year-Olds'' and learned about the various jobs available, and I remember being excited about what kind of job I would get in the future. This ``#That Girl and That Bag'' booklet seems to have similar elements. As we enter the Reiwa era, I think the number of people working as freelancers will increase more and more. It would be my hope if students could somehow get their hands on this booklet and expand their options by thinking, ``This is the way to work, live, and think about work.''
