× Traditional craftsman GINHIKIBAKU shopper bag wide
◎ KENTO HASHIGUCHI × Traditional craftsman Isao Shirai (silver foil)
The second stage of the shopper bag realized in collaboration with Mr. Isao Shirai, a obi craftsman in Nishijin, Kyoto, who has been certified as a traditional craftsman.
Using the traditional technique "HIKIBAKU" used in Nishijin, Kyoto, three types of silver leaf are randomly cut and arranged according to the long-standing sense of craftsmen, creating a unique pattern. Despite the seemingly flashy color such as silver, it has been sublimated into a design that mysteriously fits into coordination by craftsmanship.◎ Work description
"Shopper bag" is a bag made by "KENTO HASHIGUCHI", which is a paper bag often seen in the city. Although it looks like a paper bag, in order to give it strength as a bag, a bottom stud is attached and metal fittings are also attached to the edges of the fabric. Making a round hole in the fabric and passing the handle vertically is similar to a paper bag. In addition, while maintaining the form as a paper bag, the bottom studs on the bottom and the metal fittings on the corners that accentuate it provide sufficient strength. You can hang it on your shoulder or hold it by hand, just like a regular paper bag.
